And finally here's the last piece of my new portfolio!
Again, I've challenged myself and left my comfort zone. This time I've worked hard to include a lot of details and more characters than usual, to give a little story to my illustration.
I love the cute retro style, everything looks so pretty!
As you might have guessed, it is inspired on the movie "Grease", one of my favourite movies!
I wanted to represent the fun and cute style of the 50s with a lovely couple in a classic diner and enjoying lots of delicious meals.
All the illustration is based on two colours: blue and pink. Though these kind of restaurants are usually decorated with strong colours - like the popular black & white tiles floor -, I decided to use a soft colours palette instead, to create a more romantic and sweet atmosphere.
I painted the background with softer and more monochromatic tones, to create the ambience, and the front area with stronger colours to highlight the characters and the food.
Yummy, yummy! You can tell that painting all this food made me very hungry! xD
A detail of the background.
And last, a super early sketch. The girl didn't even have any clothes on yet! xD
I hope you liked this new illustration, I await your comments!
This time I've been practicing face expressions with my favourite character ever, Rinoa Heartilly!
Final Fantasy VIII has always been my favourite video game, it was one of the first ones I played when I got my first Playstation. I remember the first time I played it, a friend brought it to my home and we started playing it, with NO memory card xD but we were so amused that we played the whole Disc 1 in just one night, non stop! xDD After that I got my own FFVIII and I played it for more than 100 hours...! I was so fascinated by its beautiful scenarios, amazing music and of course its characters... I fell so much in love with Squall and Rinoa's love story, it makes me feel so romantic... sigh ;____;
I can say Final Fantasy VIII changed my life, I'm a video game obsessed thanks to it! :D
Rinoa had everything to be my favourite character: she wears blue - my favourite colour-, she always speaks her mind, she's a rebel, and she was born in March and has a dog! YAY! xD
I also found this fan art I did many years ago (I think 2009), when I was
starting to learn how to paint digitally and, as always, she was a great
These days I'm building my new website and while updating my portfolio, I found some unpublished works!
This is a "Harry Potter" fan art illustration I made for the fantasy fanzine "Lupus in Fabula", I wanted to draw Harry, Hermione and Ron in a funny way, showing how they go through a lot of problems.
Though the article it was meant to appear in was finally cancelled, I'm happy with the result so I included it in my portfolio anyway :)
And here are a few close ups and details, as soon as I have some
free time I'll make a video with all its process :)
The lovely Hedwig♥
Though Harry goes through a lot of problems, he always finds a solution at the last minute.
I think Hermione would never let her books go :P
And of course Ron wouldn't have any idea to save himself, he's just falling down helplessly xDD
I started this pin up just to have fun drawing a curvy body, but then I decided I wanted to make something more than just "a sexy lady". So I gave a context to her sensual pose, and this hot weather has been the perfect inspiration.
It has also been a great way to practice lighting effects :)
To make it more homelike, I included a little dog... aren't corgis just adorable?! *o*
Taking a cold and refreshing juice while reading about paradisiac beaches, a good way to try to escape from the hot weather!
Lately I felt like I need to take a step forward to improve my skills, to create better illustrations with fluid movements and expressive characters, more detailed backgrounds, etc.
So I've decided to face new challenges! And the first one is practicing face expressions. To make it more fun, I practice while watching a Disney movie and I draw many expressions I see. It's not that I want to simply copy the screencap, I want to understand the pose, the movement, learn the details of each character and its personality but drawing it in my own style anyway...
That's a lot of things to achieve but I'm having a lot of fun xD
The first movie I've chosen is "The Little Mermaid", because Ariel is very expressive and charming ♥ ...Next one will be "Aladdin"! ;)
UPDATE: I felt guilty for not drawing prince Eric, so here he is ♥ (also I couldn't resist to draw Ariel with that funny face xD
I did this piece several months ago for the zine Quaintrelle, that has now been published!
Quaintrelle is a beautiful new project, full of amazing female artists and the main theme for this first edition was "The Night". A beautiful theme that inspired me and made me think about how much I like to dream... though not just at night, I love to dream all the time! :P
Someone told me this girl looked a lot like Wendy from Disney's "Peter Pan"... and I think they're right xDD I always liked her so maybe, somewhere in my mind I was thinking about her while I was drawing this :)
When I was a kid, I was late for school every morning because I stood in front of the tv watching Sailor Moon, I loved it so much...! Then, when I was in high school, I started reading manga comics and that influenced A LOT my drawing style, of course one of my first references was Sailor Moon :)
Sailor Moon and Sailor Venus have always been my favourite characters, I still can't believe I made it on time to get into this collab and choose one of them for my illustration! :D
Thanks a lot to Chelsey Holeman for making this amazing collab possible ♥
Today's the birthday of probably the most adorable and sensual creature that has ever existed,
the woman that always inspires all my artworks... Marilyn Monroe!
I could spend hours talking about how much I admire her, I love her movies since I was a kid and I've been always amazed by her personality, how she could be so sweet, flirty, fragile, femenine and sensual... all at the same time! She's such an inspiration for me, now I always look for that "sweet & sensual" perfect combination; so this little tribute is my way to say thanks to her... for being so wonderful! :)
Happy birthday, sweet Marilyn ♡ !
If you feel curious, this is the scene from "Some Like it Hot" my pin up is inspired on,
you should watch the entire movie, it's just perfect!
I finished Final Fantasy IX for the first time a few days ago ♡
I've always been a huge fan of the Final Fantasy series, FF8 is my favourite game of all time and since I played it for the first time when I was 13 and got a PlayStation, I've been playing all the next releases, except FF7 (yeah, don't hate me for this >_< ) and FF9... until now!
It has been a beautiful game and I liked how cute the character designs were but I couldn't wait to make my own version of the pretty Garnet/Dagger, one of my favourite characters along with Beatrix and Vivi.
...Now I'm playing Final Fantasy X again (HD remastered version) so...
you can expect some drawings of Yuna when I finish it! :P
It's my favourite day of the year again! 23rd April, "Sant Jordi" (St. George's Day)
Here's the story as I've explained it in older posts:
"As most of you may know, the legend of St. Jordi (very briefly) is about a town terrorized by a terrible dragon, and to calm down the beast they decide to offer every day a random citizen to feed the animal.
One day the chosen one for the sacrifice is the princess of the kingdom, but just before the dragon eats her, a knight appears, kills the dragon and saves her.
From the blood that came out of the monster grew up a rosebush, from which the knight gave one rose to the princess."
I love this day because in Catalonia it's a big celebration where men give women a rose and women give them a book (now it's even better for us girls because we get both roses and books! xDD)
So today the streets of Barcelona look beautiful, full of stalls selling books and roses...
it's a perfect day to take a walk around the city!
Have a nice St. George's Day! // Feliç Diada de Sant Jordi a tots! :D
These days I'm working on a new project I'm very excited about!
I still can't tell you anything about it but I will as soon as possible and while I'm busy working on it I'll keep posting daily sketches and some wips of the drawings I'm preparing for my new portfolio :)
Also I want to thank everyone for your birthday wishes this 23rd March, you're so sweet! ♥
For some reason I felt like drawing a red-haired girl *^^*
